Kisspeptin-10 (Kp-10) is a synthetic decapeptide corresponding to the C-terminal 10 amino acids (aa112-121) of the KISS1 gene product . It acts as a potent endogenous ligand for the G protein-coupled receptor GPR54 (KISS1R), which plays an essential role in the neuroendocrine regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis . Kp-10 retains the critical sequence for full functional activity and exhibits higher receptor affinity and biopotency than longer kisspeptin forms .
