Retinaldehyde (also known as all-trans-Retinal or Vitamin A Aldehyde) is a naturally occurring retinoid and a key intermediate in the vitamin A metabolic pathway. It is the oxidation product of retinol and serves as the direct precursor to retinoic acid, the active form that binds to retinoid receptors in the skin.
