Polyetheramine, also known as poly(oxypropylene)diamine or O,O'-bis(2-aminopropyl)polypropyleneglycol, CAS No. 9046-10-0, is a family of flexible amine-terminated polyether polymers. The molecules carry primary amino groups at both ends of a polyether backbone, which combine the reactivity of aliphatic amines with the flexibility and hydrophilicity of polyether chains. Our product is available in difunctional grades (D-230, D-400, D-2000, D-4000) and trifunctional grades (T-403, T-5000), with a minimum purity of 99.0%, to cover a broad range of formulation needs.

Main Applications

Polyetheramine is primarily used as an epoxy curing agent. It reacts with epoxy resins to form tough, flexible, low-stress cured networks, making it the preferred hardener in floor coatings, marine and industrial protective coatings, adhesives, casting compounds, laminates and composite materials. Its long flexible chains improve impact resistance and elongation while reducing brittleness at low temperature. It is also a key raw material in polyurea spray coatings and polyurea elastomers, where it provides fast cure, outstanding adhesion and excellent water and chemical resistance. In addition, polyetheramine is used in fuel and lubricant additives, asphalt emulsifiers, waterproofing membranes, printing inks, reactive hot-melt adhesives and polymer modification. The D-230 and D-400 grades are favored for high-performance epoxy systems, while the D-2000 and T-5000 grades are widely used in polyurea and flexible systems.

Typical Specifications (per grade, COA issued per batch)

Total amine value (meq/g): D-230 8.1–8.7; D-400 4.5–4.8; D-2000 0.95–1.05; T-403 6.1–6.6; T-5000 0.40–0.48. Color (Gardner) ≤ 5; moisture ≤ 0.30%; appearance: colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid.

Packing & Storage

Standard packing is 200 kg galvanized iron drums, four drums per pallet and shrink-wrapped for safe sea transport. IBC totes (1000 kg) and isotanks (approx. 20 MT) are available for bulk orders. Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area, away from strong acids, oxidizing agents and sources of ignition. Protect from moisture. Shelf life: 24 months under proper storage.

Safety & Shipping

Polyetheramine is classified as a corrosive liquid (Class 8, UN 2735, Packing Group III). Use appropriate personal protective equipment—gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing—when handling. Avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of vapors. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if irritation persists. Full SDS, transport documents and dangerous-goods-compliant packing are provided with each shipment.
