SNAP-8 works by precisely intervening in this communication pathway:

It mimics the N-terminal structure of a protein in the skin called SNAP-25.

It competitively binds to the SNARE complex (a protein complex that mediates the release of neurotransmitters).

By "occupying" a space, SNAP-8 interferes with the formation of the complete SNARE complex, thereby reducing the excessive release of acetylcholine that causes muscle contraction. Ultimately, facial muscles relax, improving and preventing dynamic wrinkles caused by frequent muscle contractions.
