      Product Detail

n-Hexane (often referred to simply as hexane) is a straight-chain saturated non-polar aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent. It features extremely low polarity, strong dissolving power for grease, mineral oil, paraffin, rubber and hydrocarbon resins, with fast evaporation and near-zero residue after volatilization. Widely used for precision degreasing, edible oil extraction, pharmaceutical extraction, adhesive dilution and laboratory analysis.
    Critical Safety Reminders
1.Extremely flammable liquid and vapor; ultra-low flash point. Fire-proof, explosion-proof electrical equipment, full static grounding and total open-flame ban are mandatory onsite.
2.Powerful ventilation required; prolonged inhalation causes dizziness, fatigue and nerve irritation. Wear solvent-resistant gloves, splash goggles and organic vapor respirators.
3.Reacts violently with strong oxidants (permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine); strictly segregate storage.
4.Causes swelling/dissolution of polystyrene, soft uncrosslinked rubber and thin polyolefin films; avoid prolonged contact.
     Storage
Seal tightly, store in cool, shaded fire-resistant warehouse, separated from oxidants, heat sources and flammable materials. Unopened shelf life: 24 months.

    Core Performance Advantages

    1.Strong non-polar solvency
Easily dissolves metal cutting oil, stamping oil, lubricating grease, unvulcanized rubber, wax and oily contaminants; barely swells polar substrates such as PVC, nylon and epoxy resin.
    2.Ultra-fast, complete volatilization
Low boiling point ensures rapid drying with no oily film left, ideal for high-cleanliness precision parts before plating, anodizing and coating.
3.Low aromatic & low odor formula
Minimal benzene impurities, milder odor than crude solvent naphtha, meets low-toxic industrial and food-grade extraction standards.
    4.Chemical inertness under ambient conditions
Stable with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper alloys; no acidic decomposition unlike chlorinated solvents.
5.Infinite miscibility with other non-polar solvents
Blends freely with n-heptane, cyclohexane, dichloromethane to tailor evaporation speed and cleaning strength.

    Main Application Fields

    1.Precision Metal Degreasing
Cleaning of bearings, hydraulic fittings, stainless steel stamped components, automotive precision hardware to remove neat processing oils.
2.Edible Oil & Plant Extract Industry
Primary food-grade extraction solvent for soybean oil, peanut oil, seed oils and natural plant essential oils.
    3.Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemical Extraction
Non-polar extraction medium for lipid-soluble drug intermediates, herbal active ingredients.
    4.Rubber & Adhesive Industry
Diluent for natural rubber, butyl rubber glue; cleaning solvent for rubber mixing equipment and extruders.
    5.Laboratory & Analytical Chemistry
HPLC mobile phase, organic synthesis reaction medium, standard solvent for lab testing.

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
n-Hexane is a highly flammable liquid, usually isolated from crude oil, and has extensive industrial applications as a solvent in adhesive bandage factories and other industries. It is highly toxic, triggering several adverse health effects, i.e., nausea, skin irritation, dizziness, numbness of limbs, CNS depression, vertigo, and respiratory tract irritation to animals and humans. Occupational exposure of industrial workers has demonstrated motor polyneuropathy.
