• Linezolid (CAS 165800-03-3) is a synthetic oxazolidinone antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including multidrug-resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), and penicillin-resistant pneumococci . It appears as a white to off-white powder with the molecular formula C₁₆H₂₀FN₃O₄ and a molecular weight of 337.35 g/mol. Its IUPAC name is (S)-N-((3-(3-fluoro-4-morpholinophenyl)-2-oxooxazolidin-5-yl)methyl)acetamide .
