What is Dermorphin ?

Dermorphin, also known as a mu-opioid receptor agonist, is a peptide with strong analgesic properties. This opioid peptide belongs to a class of neuropeptides .

The chemical structure of Dermorphin comprises seven amino acids, with a molecular formula of C40H50N8O10 and a molecular weight of approximately 802.87. It is a potent and selective agonist for the mu-opioid receptor (MOR), binding to it with high affinity.

Dermorphin has been shown to inhibit neuronal firing in response to noxious stimuli its potential use in alleviating neuropathic pain, such as neuralgia.
