• 2-Deoxy-D-glucose (CAS 154-17-6), commonly abbreviated as 2-DG, is a glucose analog in which the hydroxyl group at the 2-position is replaced by hydrogen . It appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder with the molecular formula C₆H₁₂O₅ and a molecular weight of 164.16 g/mol .

  With a purity of ≥98.0% by GC/HPLC, 2-DG is a well-established antimetabolite of glucose with antiviral activity . It has been extensively studied as a glycolysis inhibitor and is widely used in cancer metabolism research, PET imaging, and antiviral studies
