Adenosine is a natural nucleotide, which is the intermediate product of metabolism, chemically 6-amino-9-beta-D-ribofuranosyl-9-H-purine. Adenosine is one of the important active components in the body, helps in cellular energy transfer by forming molecules like adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP). It also plays a role in signaling various pathways and functions in the body by forming signally molecules like cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP).

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
Adenosine is an important nucleoside composed of adenine and ribose. It is a white crystalline odorless powder with slightly salty or bitter taste. It is easily soluble in hot water and almost insoluble in alcohol. It is separated by yeast nucleic acid hydrolysis. Adenosine is a nucleoside consisting of an adenine molecule connected to a ribose molecule (ribofuran) part by a β-N9-glucoside bond. Adenosine is involved in energy transfer in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and in signal transduction in the form of cyclic adenosine phosphate (cAMP). It is a purine D-ribonucleoside, a member of the adenosine family, which is functionally related to adenine and has neuroregulatory, cytoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective effects.
