Product Overview
Stearyl gallate is a synthetic phenolic antioxidant, the octadecyl ester of gallic acid. It is supplied as a high-purity reference standard (HPLC≥98%) for analytical and research applications. Due to its long alkyl chain, it exhibits lipophilic antioxidant properties useful in oil-based systems.

Synthetic Process
Stearyl gallate is prepared by esterification of gallic acid with stearyl alcohol under acid catalysis, followed by purification and crystallization. Reference-grade material is further purified by recrystallization.

Mechanism of Action
As a phenolic antioxidant, Stearyl gallate scavenges free radicals and chelates metal ions, thereby preventing oxidative deterioration of lipids and oils. It is used as a research tool for studying antioxidant mechanisms and as a standard in analytical methods.
