This product is Rose Bengal (also known as Bengal Rose, with the CI number Acid Red 94). Its CAS number is 11121-48-5, and its chemical name is disodium tetrachlorotetraiodofluorescein. It is a synthetic fluorescein dye. The molecular formula of the product is C₂₀H₂Cl₄I₄Na₂O₅ (sodium salt form), with a molecular weight of approximately 1017.64. It normally appears as a red to dark red powder, readily soluble in water to form a fluorescent red solution.
