1. Product Description

This product is a specialty ethoxylated quaternary ammonium salt, also known as Ethoquad O/12. It contains one unsaturated oleyl long carbon chain and two hydroxyethyl groups. It exhibits excellent water solubility, salt tolerance, metal adsorption & film-forming property, with relatively low irritation compared with conventional quaternary ammonium salts.

3. Physical & Chemical Properties

Solubility: Soluble in water, alcohols; good tolerance in high-salt brine systems
Odor: Mild amine/isopropanol odor
Viscosity: High viscosity at ambient temperature; viscosity increases sharply at low temperature. Heating is recommended for winter pumping & transfer.
Stability: Good thermal stability, low yellowing tendency during storage and heating processing.

4. Manufacturing Process

Synthesized from oleylamine via ethoxylation reaction with ethylene oxide, followed by quaternization with methyl chloride. Then refined, solvent adjusted and filtered to get the final product.

5. Applications

It is a multi-functional cationic surfactant with corrosion inhibition, emulsifying, wetting, anti-static and softening properties.

Oilfield Chemicals: Main or auxiliary corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel, demulsifying aid, wetting agent for drilling fluid.
Personal Care: Hair conditioner / hair mask anti-static conditioning agent, improves wet & dry combing, reduces friction, leaves soft non-greasy film on hair.
Textile Industry: Fabric softener and antistatic agent.
Other fields: Metal surface cleaning & wetting aid, emulsifier for special formulations.
