Product Overview
Palladium(II) oxide is a black powder containing ≥85% palladium. It is supplied at AR grade for catalyst preparation, hydrogen storage, and electronic applications. The compound is stable in air and insoluble in water but soluble in dilute nitric acid.

Synthetic Process
Palladium(II) oxide is produced by heating palladium metal in oxygen or by the thermal decomposition of palladium(II) nitrate or palladium(II) hydroxide.

Mechanism of Action
As a palladium oxide, it serves as a catalyst for oxidation reactions and as a precursor for palladium catalysts. Its ability to absorb hydrogen makes it useful in hydrogen purification and storage.
