Product Overview
Chloroiridic acid solution is a red-brown to brown-black liquid containing ≥35% iridium. It is supplied at AR grade for the manufacture of coated electrodes, as an important chemical catalyst, and as a raw material for iridium reagents. It is readily soluble in water, hydrochloric acid, and alcohols, and is hygroscopic.

Synthetic Process
Chloroiridic acid is produced by dissolving iridium metal or iridium compounds in hydrochloric acid under controlled conditions, followed by purification and standardization to the target concentration.

Mechanism of Action
As an iridium(IV) complex, it serves as a precursor for iridium-based catalysts and for the preparation of mixed metal oxide coatings on electrodes (e.g., titanium anodes for electrochemical applications).
