    Product Overview
Adenosine is a naturally occurring purine nucleoside composed of adenine linked to a ribose sugar via a β-N9-glycosidic bond. It is supplied as a high-purity reference standard (HPLC≥98%) for biochemical and pharmacological research. Adenosine plays a critical role in energy transfer (as ATP/ADP) and signal transduction (as cAMP), and functions as an inhibitory neurotransmitter.

    Synthetic Process
Adenosine is produced industrially by the alkaline hydrolysis of yeast ribonucleic acid (RNA), followed by chromatographic separation from other nucleosides (cytidine, guanosine, uridine). It can also be prepared by chemical or enzymatic condensation of ribose and adenine.

    Mechanism of Action
Adenosine acts through adenosine receptors (A1, A2A, A2B, A3). In the cardiovascular system, it activates G-protein-coupled potassium channels, causing membrane hyperpolarization and reduced automaticity, which underlies its antiarrhythmic effects. In the central nervous system, adenosine serves as an inhibitory neuromodulator that promotes sleep and balances energy supply and demand.

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
Adenosine is an important nucleoside composed of adenine and ribose. It is a white crystalline odorless powder with slightly salty or bitter taste. It is easily soluble in hot water and almost insoluble in alcohol. It is separated by yeast nucleic acid hydrolysis. Adenosine is a nucleoside consisting of an adenine molecule connected to a ribose molecule (ribofuran) part by a β-N9-glucoside bond. Adenosine is involved in energy transfer in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and in signal transduction in the form of cyclic adenosine phosphate (cAMP). It is a purine D-ribonucleoside, a member of the adenosine family, which is functionally related to adenine and has neuroregulatory, cytoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective effects.
