        Bis(2-ethylhexyl) sebacate (DOS) is an organic compound with the molecular formula C₂₆H₅₀O₄ and molecular weight of 426.66 g/mol. This colorless to pale yellow oily liquid is a widely used cold-resistant plasticizer for PVC and other polymers. The compound is the diester of sebacic acid and 2-ethylhexanol, featuring a long aliphatic chain that provides excellent low-temperature flexibility .
        Synthetic Process
        
        Esterification: Sebacic acid is esterified with 2-ethylhexanol in the presence of an acid catalyst (e.g., sulfuric acid or p-toluenesulfonic acid)
