Drug Function and Efficacy

Lysine is an alkaline amino acid and one of the essential amino acids for the human body. It is particularly important among the eight essential amino acids for maintaining the body's nitrogen balance. It is required in higher quantities during the growth period of children, the recovery period after illness, and the period of pregnancy and lactation. It is easily deficient due to low levels in food and is known as the "first deficient amino acid". Lysine deficiency can cause stunted growth, loss of appetite, weight loss, negative nitrogen balance, hypoproteinemia, poor tooth development, anemia, decreased enzyme activity, and other physiological dysfunctions.
