Description

Chlorophyllin, a water-soluble derivative of chlorophyll, is a green pigment extracted from plants. The copper sodium complex form enhances its stability and solubility in aqueous solutions. Chlorophyllin exhibits antioxidant properties and is known for its ability to bind with toxins and facilitate detoxification.

Chlorophyllin are a group of water-soluble salts being semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll. Its major form sodium/copper derivative can be used as a food additive and in alternative medicine. As alternative medicine, it can be used as an aid to reduce the odor of urines or feces (bowel movements). It can also be used to improve the life quality in people who have fecal incontinence due to spinal cord injury, bowel cancer, psychotic disorder, terminal illness, or other disorders. It can also be sold as an herbal supplement. Chlorophyllin can also bind to mutagenic substances such as polycyclic aromatic benzo[a]pyrene and dibenzo{a,i}pyrene. As a topical preparation, it is useful for both treatment and odor control of wounds, injuries, and other skin conditions such as radiation burns.

Chlorophyllin Use and Manufacturing

Chlorophyllin is used in the food and beverage industry as a natural colorant and flavor enhancer. It is also utilized in dietary supplements for its potential health benefits, including detoxification and odor control. In addition, chlorophyllin is explored for its applications in cosmetics and personal care products, where it serves as a natural pigment and skin conditioner.

Chlorophyllin, coppered trisodium salt is used in the spectrophotometric determination of Ven- lafaxine hydrochloride. A hybrid photoelectrochemical biofuel cell is composed of a TiO 2 film conductive glass electrode sensitized by a copper chlorophyll trisodium salt. Visible light-sensitive gels were prepared by introducing a chromophore (trisodium salt of copper chlorophyllin) to thermosensitive gels.

Drug Function and Efficacy

Sodium copper chlorophyllin is a hematopoietic cell complex that can promote the release of neutrophils from the bone marrow by increasing the excitability of sympathetic nerves and combining liver and adrenal functions; its basic structure is similar to hemoglobin and can promote hematopoiesis. Animal experiments have shown that chlorophyll can improve the red blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets and other indicators of mice with aplastic anemia caused by irradiation, and has a promoting and regulating effect on the recovery of multipotent stem cells, granulocyte-monocyte progenitor cells, erythroid progenitor cells and bone marrow stromal cells. Clinical studies have shown that this product can activate liver reticuloendothelial cells, restore liver function, enhance liver cell resistance, accelerate repair and regeneration, and shrink or eliminate enlarged liver.
