Drug Function and Efficacy

Moxonidine is a new type of central antihypertensive drug. It is a selective agonist with high affinity for imidazoline I1 receptors. The antihypertensive effect of this product has no obvious relationship with the binding of alpha 2 adrenergic receptors. Pharmacological experiments on mice show that this product can reduce the number of spontaneous activities, promote sleep in mice in synergy with pentobarbital, and inhibit central nervous system activity; it slows down the heart rate while lowering blood pressure, but has no obvious effect on the ECG and respiratory rate and depth.
