Peplomycin Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Method 1: Synthesis method. The following free acid copper salts of bleomycin and N-(1-phenylethyl)propanediamine are reacted in dimethylformamide in the presence of cyclohexylcarbodiimide to obtain pelomycin . Method 2: Fermentation method. To the fermentation broth of Streptomyces verticillus ATCCl5003 strain, N-(1-phenylethyl)propylenediamine was added for fermentation culture. The filtrate of the culture broth is further purified with Amberlite IRC-50 (H+ type) ion exchange resin to obtain pelomycin.

Uses

Antitumor antibiotics. It is clinically used for the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma, such as head squamous cell carcinoma, tongue cancer, mouth floor cancer, buccal mucosa cancer, skin squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant lymphoma. It also has a certain effect on lung cancer, prostate cancer, and malignant melanoma.
