Methods of Manufacturing

The pyrolusite method mixes pyrolusite and coal powder in a certain proportion and roasts, the generated manganese monoxide reacts with nitric acid to generate manganese nitrate, which is filtered and concentrated to obtain a manganese nitrate solution with MnO2+C→MnO+CO↑ Mn02+CO→Mn0+CO2↑MnO+2HNO3→Mn(NO3)2+H2O metal manganese method adds metal manganese to dilute nitric acid solution for reaction to generate manganese nitrate, the solution is purified and filtered to obtain manganese nitrate solution. 3Mn+8HNO3→3Mn(NO3)2+2NO+4H2O

Uses

Used as raw materials and intermediates for the manufacture of manganese dioxide. Also used as ceramic colorant and metal phosphating agent.
