Methods of Manufacturing

Acetic anhydride and cyanamide are reacted in methanol solution to obtain O-methyl isourea acetate, which is then reacted with bis(aminooctyl) amine at 25°C for 6-10 hours to obtain biguanide octyl acetate. For other synthetic routes of biguanide salts, the synthesis of biguanide sulfate and biguanide carbonate, see the sixth issue of "Pesticide" magazine in 1986.

Uses

Biguanide octanoate is a new broad-spectrum fungicide that has high growth inhibitory activity against major fungi in agriculture and horticulture. Its mode of action is to inhibit lipid biosynthesis. It is mainly used for preventing and curing cereal seeds and citrus storage and preservation, such as inhibiting green mold, acid rot, black rot, pedicle rot, etc. It is very effective, especially for acid rot diseases.
