Methods of Manufacturing

To a solution of 4-fluoro-2, 1 , 3-benzoxadiazole (1.00 g, 7.24 mmol) in Conc.H2S04 (8 ml)10 was added nitrating mixture (H2S04: HN03, 3:1, 2.40 ml) dropwise at -10°C. The reactionmixture was stirred at the same temperature for 1 h. Progress of the reaction wasmonitored by TLC and LCMS. After completion, the reaction mixture was quenched withH20 (250 ml) and extracted with EtOAc (2 x 250 ml). The organic layer was separated, dried over anhydrous Na2S04 and concentrated under vacuum. The crude obtained was15 purified by flash column chromatography (0 to 10percent EtOAc in hexanes) to afford 4-fluoro-7-nitro-2, 1 , 3-benzoxadiazole X-13a (0.39 g) as a yellow solid.Yield: 30percent1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d5) o 7.70 (d, J=8.40 Hz, 1 H) 8.77- 8.80 (m, 1 H).
