In the three bottle, Dissolve 3-methoxy-5-nitrobenzonitrile (8.0 g, 0.045 mol) in methanol (80 mL) and add 10percent palladium on carbon (1.4 g) and ammonium acetate (6.9 g, 0.090 mol). Hydrogen, reaction at 40 °C for 8 h. Reaction is complete, suction filtration, filter cakeWash with methanol (15 mL x 3). The filtrate was collected and concentrated under reduced pressure.
