4-broMo-2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-1H-iMidazo[4,5-c]pyridine

2-(2, 6-dichlorophenyl)-lH-imidazo[4, 5-c]pyridin-4-ol (5.4 g, 19.3 mmol) was added to the POBr2-(2, 6-dichlorophenyl)-1H-imidazo[4, 5-c]pyridin-4-ol (5.4 g, 19.3mmol) was added to the POBr2-(2, 6-dichlorophenyl)-lH-imidazo[4, 5-c]pyridin-4-ol (0.2 g, 0.6 mmol) and a HBr solution in AcOH (33percent, 2 mL) was heated at 90 °C overnight. The reaction was cooled to room temperature and poured into ice followed by addition of an aqueous KAmixture of 4-chloro-2-(2, 6-dichlorophenyl)-1H-imidazo[4, 5-c]pyridine (500 mg, 1.70mmol) and 33percent solution ofHBrinHOAc(5.0mL) was heated at 90 °C for15 h.Thereactionmixture wasthencooledto25°Candpoured into ice-water. The resulting mixturewas neutralized with an aqueous potassium carbonate solutionand the solid was collected by filtration, washed with water and driedby vacuumto givethe desired productas a pale yellow solid(400mg, 68percentyield).
