A solution of 149 (0.7 g, 4.46 mmol) and pinacol (0.63 g, 5.35 mmol) were added to 50 mL of toluene, the mixture was warmed to 120 C and refluxed overnight, and TLC showed a small amount of material remained. The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature, concentrated, and dried by oil pump to give 0.92 g of compound of 5-chloro-2-fluoro-4-(4, 4, 5, 5-tetramethyl-1, 3, 2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)pyridine as a white solid, yield 80%, MS(ESI): m/z 258.1 (M + H)+.
