4,5-DibroMo-1,2-phenylenediaMine Use and Manufacturing

A mixture of 70 ml of sulfuric acid and 35.2 g (0.058 mol) of the compound of example 12.2 were heated to 1 10°C for 15 min. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, poured onto ice water and neutralized with 50percent aqueous sodium hydroxide solution. The precipitate formed was filtered, washed with 300 ml of water and dried to give 14.3 g (91 percent) of the title compound having a HPLC purity (area) of 97percent.
