1,4-dibromo-2,3-butanediol Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

It is derived from 1, 4-dibromo-2-butene oxidation by potassium permanganate. Dissolve 15g 1, 4-dibromo-2-butene in 400ml 95% ethanol, cool to -10℃, add dropwise 10g ground potassium permanganate and 75g anhydrous magnesium sulfate dissolved in 300ml water, temperature control At -5~-15℃, stir for 1 hour after dripping. Let it stand for 2h, filter off the solid, and get a clear filtrate. Concentrate the filtrate to a solid when cooled, extract with ether, combine the ether layers, dry with anhydrous sodium sulfate, and evaporate the ether to obtain it. The yield was 47.5%.

Uses

Can be used as organic synthesis intermediate.
