H225
Highly flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire. Vapour/air mixtures are explosive.|Flammable - 3rd degree
Use powder, AFFF, foam, carbon dioxide. In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
Explosive limits , vol% in air: 2.0-8.8
Personal protection: filter respirator for organic gases and vapours adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Do NOT wash away into sewer. Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.
Fireproof. Separated from powdered metals and strong oxidants.
No indication can be given about the rate at which a harmful concentration of this substance in the air is reached on evaporation at 20 °C.
NO open flames, NO sparks and NO smoking. Closed system, ventilation, explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding). Do NOT use compressed air for filling, discharging, or handling.
Use ventilation, local exhaust or breathing protection.
Protective gloves.
Wear safety spectacles.
Drug Information
Fresh air, rest.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Isobutyl chloride Use and Manufacturing
Derived from the reaction of isobutanol and thionyl chloride. Preheat thionyl chloride first, and slowly add isobutanol. After the addition, heat and reflux for 10-12 hours until the temperature stabilizes at about 70°C, cool, distill, wash, dry, and fractionate the obtained crude product at normal pressure, and collect the 67.5-69°C fraction to obtain the finished product. The product can also be prepared by reacting isobutanol with hydrochloric acid in the presence of zinc chloride.
Used as a catalyst component for propylene polymerization, organic synthesis and as a solvent
