Oxalates of the rare-earth metals are used to separate the latter from common metals.
Erbium Oxalate is an important colourant in glasses and porcelain enamel glazes. High purity Erbium Oxalate is widely applied as dopant in making optical fibre and amplifier. It is particularly useful as an amplifier for fiber optic data transfer. And it has specialized uses in prosphors.
