(-)-MENTHOXYACETYL CHLORIDE Use and Manufacturing
125g (0.58mol) of oxyacetic acid was added dropwise to 325g (2.73mol) of thionyl chloride, stirred and refluxed for 5h. Distill off excess thionyl chloride, distill under reduced pressure, collect 117-120°C (0.4kPa) fractions to obtain 115-118g of oxyacetyl chloride, with a yield of 85-87%.
