Description

Glyceryl monooleate has a faint fatty odor It is a polar lipid that swells in water to give several phases with different rheological properties Glyceryl monooleate is a mixture of the glycerides of oleic acid and other fatty acids, consisting mainly of monooleate. Colourless Solid The PhEur 6.3 describes glyceryl monooleate as being a mixture ofmonoacylglycerols, mainly monooleoylglycerol, together withvariable quantities of di- and triacylglycerols. They are defined bythe nominal content o

Monoolein Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

REACTION OF OLEIC ACID WITH GLYCEROL, PRODUCING A MIXTURE (PREDOMINANTLY MONOOLEATE)|SEE MONOGLYCERIDE. PRODUCED SYNTHETICALLY BY ALCOHOLYSIS OF FATS WITH GLYCEROL, YIELDING A MIXTURE OF MONO-, DI-, & TRIGLYCERIDES WHICH IS PREDOMINANTLY MONOGLYCERIDES. /MONOGLYCERIDE/

Uses

Used as a thickener; used as a surface active agent, lubricant, pharmaceutical raw material, etc.; a non-ionic surface active agent with emulsifying, thickening and defoaming properties. In the daily chemical industry, it is used as an emulsifier, solubilizer, sunscreen and defoamer in the production of cream cosmetics and liquid washing shampoos, as a fabric finishing agent in the textile industry, and also as a pigment grinding additive agent. It can be used as a defoamer, which has the effect of reducing viscosity and suppressing foam.
