Description

Ambroxide is a naturally occurring terpenoid. Ambroxide is one of the key constituents of ambergris.

White crystalline solid

Ambroxan is a diterpenoid derived from sclareol that is responsible for the odour of ambergris (a solid, waxy, flammable substance produced in the digestive system of sperm whales). It is an organic heterotricyclic compound and a diterpenoid.

(-)-Ambrox Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Ambergris ether is a synthetic fragrance with a special natural ambergris aroma. It is recognized as one of the best substitutes for natural ambergris. It is one of the most critical trace components of natural ambergris tincture. Natural ambergris (Ambergris) is a precious animal spice. It is a kind of stone in the stomach of sperm whales. It is vomited or excreted on the sea surface by whales and emits a special fragrance in the air over time. Synthetic nordrone ether takes perillyl alcohol as a raw material and undergoes two-step oxidation with KMnO4 (oxidized with ozone in Switzerland and oxidized with sodium chromate in Russia). Namely (1) alkaline oxidation; (2) weak acid oxidation. The oxide is obtained, and then the oxide is soaped, dehydrated, and lactonized to obtain norambulactone. The lactone is reduced to ambroxol with lithium aluminum hydride in ether (or borane in tetrahydrofuran). Using D-camphor-β-sulfonic acid as the cyclizing agent, cyclizing the diol, the ammbroxol is obtained (foreign cyclizing agents include sulfuric acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid and β-naphthalenesulfonic acid, etc.). The total yield of the whole process is 35%.

Uses

The bergamot ether has a strong, special scent of ambergris. It is used in high-end perfumes and cosmetic essences. Because it is non-irritating to humans and has no allergic reaction to animals, it is very suitable for perfumes for skin, hair and fabrics. Often used in soaps, talcum powders, creams and shampoos for perfuming and setting. The general dosage is 0.1%-0.2%. Freshly distilled pure products, the aroma is not prominent. When diluted with alcohol to 10% and exposed to the air for a period of time, the aroma will become softer and more aromatic. The fragrance-fixing effect of this product is outstanding, which can greatly enhance the diffusion and translucent effect of the fragrance, and the enhancement and enhancement effects have been implemented from the first fragrance of the fragrance.
