Description

Dark Red Crystalline PowderA vitamin B12 analog used as an intermediate in the synthesis of methane. It is responsible for the methylation of inorganic mercury by anaerobic bacteria in bottom sediments. Through the action of methylcobalamin in an anaerobic bacteria in bottom sediments of aquatic systems, arsenic(III) is methylated to methanearsonic acid then to cacodylic acid.

Drug Function and Efficacy

This product is an endogenous coenzyme B12, which participates in the one-carbon unit cycle and plays an important role in the transmethylation reaction of methionine synthesis from homocysteine. Animal experiments have found that this product is easier to enter neuronal organelles than cyanocobalamin, participates in the synthesis of thymidine nucleoside in brain cells and spinal cord neurons, promotes the utilization of folic acid and nucleic acid metabolism, and has a stronger effect on promoting nucleic acid and protein synthesis than cyanocobalamin. This product can promote axonal transport function and axonal regeneration, normalize the transport of axonal skeleton proteins in the sciatic nerve of diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin, and has an inhibitory effect on drug-induced neurodegeneration, such as neurodegeneration caused by adriamycin, acrylamide, and vincristine, and neurological diseases in spontaneously hypertensive rats. In rat tissue culture, it was found that this product can promote lecithin synthesis and neuronal myelination. This product can restore delayed synaptic transmission and neurotransmitter reduction to normal, restore end plate potential induction by increasing nerve fiber excitability, and restore acetylcholine in the brain of rats fed with choline-deficient feed to normal levels. Toxicological studies Reproductive toxicity: When rats and mice were orally administered 0.2, 2.0, and 20 mg/kg/d of this product during the teratogenic sensitive period, no abnormalities or teratogenic signs were observed in the fetuses and newborns.
