Description

Terbinafine hydrochloride (TDT 067 hydrochloride) is an antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections. It is a potent non-competitive inhibitor of squalene epoxidase from Candida with a Ki of 30 nM.

Terbinafine hydrochloride Use and Manufacturing

1. An orally active, antimycotic allylamine related to Naftifine. A specfic inhibitor of squalene epoxidase, a key enzyme in fungal ergosterol biosynthesis. Antifungal.
2. Terbinafine hydrochloride is a synthetic allylamine antifungal. It is used to treat dermatophyte infections of the toenail/fingernail, ringworm and jock itch. It is used in adsorption, partition and stability studies.

Drug Function and Efficacy

This product is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug that can highly selectively inhibit fungal squalene epoxidase, block the squalene epoxidation reaction in the process of fungal cell membrane formation and interfere with the early biosynthesis of fungal sterols, thereby playing a role in inhibiting and killing fungi.
