Z-ORN(BOC)-OH Use and Manufacturing

To a stirred solution of δ-Boc-L-Ornithine (0.5 g, 2.15 mmol, 1 equiv.) in 5percent aqueous NaHCO3 (30mL) at room temperature was added benzyl chloroformate (0.4 mL, 2.80 mmol, 1.3 eq) and resultingmixture was allowed to stir for 12 h. Diethyl ether (20 mL) was added to remove the excess of benzylchloroformate by extraction. The aqueous layer was acidified with 6 N aqueous hydrochloric acid to pH 1 and extracted with DCM (50 mL × 3). Combined organic layers were dried with anhydrous MgSO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give compound 13 as a colorless solid (0.71 g) in 90percent yield.
