Bariumnitritemonohydrate Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Thermal decomposition method Decompose barium nitrate by heating, and it is best to pass nitric oxide gas into the heating furnace to obtain barium nitrite. In the metathesis method, the equimolar sodium nitrite and barium chloride solution undergo a metathesis reaction in an enamel reactor. After the reaction is completed, the 2NaNO2+BaCl2→Ba(NO2)2+NaCl reaction is evaporated, crystallized and dried to obtain barium nitrite. At high temperature, nitrogen oxide is passed into barium hydroxide solution or barium carbonate suspension for reaction to obtain barium nitrite.

Uses

Mainly used as a reducing agent. It can be added to reinforced concrete to be used as rust inhibitor to protect reinforced steel. It can also be used as a diazotizing agent for organic chemical reactions.
