Hyodeoxycholic acid is a secondary bile acid formed in the small intestine by the gut flora, and acts as a TGR5 (GPCR19) agonist, with an EC50 of 31.6 µM in CHO cells.

Hyodeoxycholic acid Use and Manufacturing
1. Used for biochemical research. 2. Suitable for type Ia, Ib hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis. It has certain bacteriostatic effect on pertussis bacilli, diphtheria bacilli and staphylococcus aureus. It can be used as an anti-inflammatory drug to treat chronic bronchitis and viral upper respiratory tract inflammation in children. It is suitable for cholangitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis and other non-obstructive cholestasis; it can expel the gallbladder contrast medium out of the liver to help visualization. Can still promote intestinal fat breakdown and absorption of fat-soluble vitamins can be used for indigestion caused by liver and gallbladder diseases.
