Description

off-white to white powder

DryPowder

Compounds with three fused rings that appear like a naphthalene fused to piperidone or like a benz(de)isoquinoline-1,3-dione (not to be confused with BENZYLISOQUINOLINES which have a methyl separating the naphthyl from the benzyl rings). Members are CYTOTOXINS.

Naphthalimide Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

From 1, 8-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid by amination. Add 290kg of 1, 8-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, 414kg of 20% ammonia water, and 414kg of water into the reaction pot, and heat to 100-110°C, and the pressure is 0.2-0.25MPa. Keep it warm for 5h. Then it was cooled to below 40°C, filtered and washed to obtain 242 kg of 1, 8-naphthalimide.

Uses

It is an important raw material for synthesizing perylene dyes, pigments, reduced BG ash and fluorescent whitening agents.
