Description

Viscosity controlling agent. Butyl rubber has the chemical resistance characteristic ofsaturated hydrocarbons. Oxidative degradation is slow, andthe rubber may be further protected by incorporating antioxidants.Isobutylene is the major component of bulk rubber. It provides good aging resistance and low gas permeability.Isoprene, a minor component, enhances vulcanizability.

Isobutylene-isoprene copolymer Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

It is made by copolymerizing isobutylene and isoprene in methyl chloride solution with aluminum chloride as a catalyst at a temperature lower than -95℃. After polymerization, use hot water containing food grade depolymerization agent (such as stearic acid) to refine rubber particles, and finally dry to remove residual volatile matter.

Uses

Gum gum base.

1,3-Butadiene, 2-methyl-, polymer with 2-methyl-1-propene, chlorinated: ACTIVE|XU - indicates a substance exempt from reporting under the Chemical Data Reporting Rule, (40 CFR 711).|1,3-Butadiene, 2-methyl-, polymer with 2-methyl-1-propene, brominated: ACTIVE|1,3-Butadiene, 2-methyl-, polymer with 2-methyl-1-propene: ACTIVE
