Description

Difloxacin hydrochloride is a broad-spectrum antibacterial drug. Difloxacin hydrochloride inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and exhibits a concentration-dependant bactericidal effect by interference with the activity of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV[1].

Difloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is active against isolates of anaerobic bacteria, includingB. fragilis, as well asFusobacteriumandActinomycesspecies with MIC values ranging from ≤0.125 to 8 μg/ml. It eliminatesE. coliandB. fragilisinfection in a rat intra-abdominal abscess model when administered at a dose of 40 mg/kg three times per day.
