BuLi (1.6 M in hexane, 173 mL, 277 mmol) was added to a sol. of 2-trifluoromethyl-chlorobenzene (50.0 g, 277 mmol) in THF ( 500 mL) at -70 °C. The sol. was stirred for 2 h at -70 °C, and DMF (21.3 mL, 277 mmol) in THF (100 mL) was added. The mixture was allowed to warm to rt overnight. Water was added (200 mL), and the mixture was extracted with EtStage A: 2-Chloro-3-trifluoromethylbenzaldehyde STAGE A
