1-Methoxyheptane Use and Manufacturing

1-Methoxyheptane is prepared from n-heptyl chloride and sodium methoxide in a methanol solution. 1-Methoxyheptane is used as a fresh green note modifier in perfumes, especially in top notes of herbal or green floral perfumes. It mixes well with lavender, bayberry, fougere, etc. and can be mixed into apple-type bases or compositions. It is stable in soaps or powders, but requires solid fixation.
