Gallocyanine Use and Manufacturing
75 g of gallic acid, 35 g of p-nitrosodimethylaniline hydrochloric acid and 850 g of methanol were mixed. Boiling at reflux, and adding 85g of p-nitroso-xylidine hydrochloride in batches over 4h, continuing to boil until the reaction droplets produce dark purple spots with no yellow edges on the filter paper, then distill off the methanol to remove the product and The water is boiled together and filtered to get a blue and white.
As a dye; in alkali carbonate solution as a reagent for lead with which it forms a deep violet color.
