Methods of Manufacturing

Reduction with 3-methoxy-18-methyl-1, 3, 5(10), 8-estrone-4-one followed by potassium borohydride and lithium-ammonia to produce 3-methoxy-18 -Methyl 2, 5 (10) estradiene-17-alcohol, then oxidized by cyclohexanone-isopropanol aluminum (Varskov oxidation).

Uses

Max LMG is a progestin derived steroid and not a 17-alpha alkylated steroid. Max LMG is structurally related to RU-486 and acts as an antiprogesterone, decreasing estrogen-like effects.
