2-Ethoxy-1-naphthalenecarboxylic acid Use and Manufacturing
It is obtained by oxidation of 2-ethoxynaphthaldehyde ([19523-57-0]). After the oxidation reaction of 2-ethoxynaphthaldehyde and potassium permanganate in alkaline acetone, the acetone is distilled out, and the reactant is acidified to pH 4 to obtain a crude product, which is refined by ethanol to obtain 2-ethoxynaphthalene Finished formic acid.
Used in organic synthesis. This product is reacted with sulfoxide at 80°C or less for 2 hours, and excess sulfoxide chloride is distilled off under reduced pressure to obtain 2-ethoxynaphthoyl chloride. This is an intermediate of the antibiotic ethoxynaphthyl penicillin sodium.
