1-Bromotetradecane Use and Manufacturing
It is obtained by bromination of myristyl alcohol. Add myristyl alcohol into the reaction pot, add sulfuric acid dropwise with stirring, and continue stirring for half an hour after the addition. Then add hydrobromic acid, heat to 99-101°C, and react for 8h. Cool to 30°C, stop stirring, leave for 12h, divide the upper oily substance, and adjust the pH to 8 with 10% sodium carbonate solution. Separate the water layer, wash the oily substance twice with an equal volume of 50% ethanol, add the washed oily substance to sodium carbonate, stir intermittently, and dry for 24h. Filter to get the finished product.
Used in organic synthesis, can be used to synthesize medicine and other fine chemicals.
