9-Phenanthrenecarbonitrile Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

After 9-bromophenanthrene and cuprous cyanide reacted at 260°C for 6 hours, vacuum distillation was carried out, and the 190-195°C (0.267kPa) fraction was collected to obtain crude 9-cyanophenanthrene, which was recrystallized with absolute ethanol to obtain the finished product.

Uses

Used in organic synthesis.
