Geranyl formate has a fresh, green, leafy, rose odor with a bitter taste. Colorless liquid. rose-like odor. Insoluble in alcohol and ether. Occurs in several essential oils. Combustible. Geranyl Formate is a liquid with a fresh, crisp, herbal, fruity rose odor. Geranyl formate Use and Manufacturing
Mix geraniol with anhydrous formic acid at 2:1, add an appropriate amount of mineral acid as a catalyst, and let it stand at room temperature for 8 days. After the product is washed, neutralized, and then vacuum distilled to obtain pure product.
