1-Methoxy-2-(2-propen-1-yloxy)benzene Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

By the reaction of o-methoxyphenol and allyl bromide. 63g (0.5mol) o-methoxyphenol, 66g (0.55mol) allyl bromide, 70g anhydrous potassium carbonate and 100ml anhydrous acetone were heated to reflux for 8h. After cooling, it was diluted with 200ml of water, extracted with ether, the extract was washed with 10% sodium hydroxide solution, dried with anhydrous potassium carbonate, and the solvent was evaporated. The residue was distilled under reduced pressure to collect the 110-113°C (1.6kPa) fraction. Get 66-75g finished product, the yield is 80%-90%.

Uses

The product is rearranged by heating to obtain 4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol (perfume eugenol).
